The short version
- WipedMe is a subscription. It renews automatically every month or every year, at the price you agreed to at checkout plus any applicable tax, until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime online in Manage billing or by emailing support@wipedme.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Your first payment is refundable in full if you ask within 14 days. Our Refund Policy has the details.
- We act as your authorized agent under an authorization you sign. Outside California, an agent can generally only ask a site to opt you out, and we never describe that as a legal deletion.
- We can't promise that every site will act on a request, or that a listing will stay down. We tell you what we filed and what we saw at our last check, and we re-file when a listing comes back.
- WipedMe is only for the people on your plan who have signed their own authorization. There is no search or lookup feature.
- Disputes go to individual arbitration instead of court, and class actions are waived, unless you opt out within 30 days.
Who we are and what this agreement covers
WipedMe is a trade name of CILE LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. These Terms cover wipedme.com, checkout, onboarding, and the removal service.
These documents are part of this agreement: our Refund Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, FCRA Disclaimer, and the authorized agent authorization you sign after checkout. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If these Terms and the Refund Policy differ on refunds or cancellation, the Refund Policy controls. If these Terms and your signed authorization differ on what we may do on your behalf, the authorization controls.
Who can use WipedMe
You must be at least 18, able to enter a binding contract, and living in the United States. We file requests with US data brokers and people-search sites under US law.
Each plan covers a set number of adults: Solo covers 1 person, Duo covers 2, and Household covers 4. You, the purchaser, are one of them. Every other adult on your plan must agree to be included, give their own details, and sign their own authorization before we file anything for them. Plans cover adults only.
What WipedMe does, and doesn't do
When you sign the authorization, you appoint WipedMe as your authorized agent. Under it, we:
- File opt-out and removal requests with the data brokers and people-search sites we cover, using the details you give us.
- Respond to the verification and follow-up messages those sites send about your requests.
- Check back on the sites we filed with, and re-file when a listing comes back.
- If you live in California and want us to, help you with the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) as your disclosed authorized agent, once the state has verified your residency.
- Send you status updates in plain words, such as "removal requested", "not present at last check" (with the date of that check), or "listed again, re-filed".
What we don't do: there is no search or lookup feature, and we never look anyone up for you. We're not a law firm and don't give legal advice. We're not a consumer reporting agency (see our FCRA Disclaimer).
DROP is free, and California residents can use it themselves at privacy.ca.gov/drop. You don't need WipedMe to use it.
The sites we cover change over time as sites open, close, merge, or change their processes, and we add or drop sites at our discretion.
What we need from you
- Accurate details. Sites match on the names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails you give us. If they're wrong or incomplete, requests can miss your records. We never ask for, and you must not give us, a Social Security number, a driver's license or other government ID number, or a financial account number.
- A signed authorization. We file nothing until it's signed. Each adult on your plan signs their own.
- Occasional help. Some sites will only act if you confirm a request yourself, for example by clicking a link they email you. When that happens we tell you exactly what to do. If it isn't done, that site's request may not go through.
- A working email address. That's where receipts, renewal notices, and status updates go.
What the law lets an agent do
Your rights depend on where you live. In California, an authorized agent can submit deletion, correction, and opt-out requests. Outside California, an agent can generally only submit opt-out requests, and many states don't recognize agent requests at all. Where the law doesn't give an agent a deletion right, we submit an opt-out or a removal request under the site's own policy, and we describe the result accurately, never as a legal deletion.
Results: what we can and can't promise
We promise to do the work diligently and in good faith, to file only within your authorization, and to report honestly what we filed and what we saw.
We can't promise outcomes. Each site decides whether and when to act. Some are slow, some ignore requests, some demand extra verification, and many add people back later from public records and other sources. A listing that is not present at our last check may come back. When it does and we see it, we re-file.
Our status updates describe what we saw on a given date. They are not a statement that your information no longer exists anywhere.
Your subscription and automatic renewal
This section is the automatic renewal agreement you consent to at checkout.
- Price. You pay the price shown for your plan and billing cycle at checkout, next to the button you press, plus any applicable tax. Current prices are on our Pricing page.
- When you're charged. Your first charge is at checkout. After that your subscription renews automatically and we charge the payment method on file on each renewal date: the same day of the month (monthly plans) or the same date each year (yearly plans) as your first payment. If you switch between monthly and yearly billing, your renewal date can move to the date you switched. Manage billing always shows your next renewal date.
- How long it lasts. It keeps renewing, one month or one year at a time, until you cancel. There's no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
- Who processes payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Trials and promo codes. We don't currently offer free trials or promotional codes. If we ever do, we'll show the terms, including what happens when the trial ends, before you sign up, and remind you before it turns into a paid plan.
After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation that includes these renewal terms, our cancellation policy, and how to cancel, so you have your own copy.
Renewal reminders and price changes
- Yearly plans: we email you a reminder 30 to 40 days before each yearly renewal, with the renewal date, the amount, and how to cancel.
- Every plan: at least once a year, we email you a reminder of what you're subscribed to, how much and how often you're charged, and how to cancel.
- Price changes: if the price of your plan changes, we email you at least 7 days and no more than 30 days before the new price first applies to you, with the new amount and how to cancel. We never charge a new price without that notice. If you don't want it, cancel before it applies and you won't be charged it.
- Other material changes to your plan: we tell you by email before they apply, along with how to cancel.
How to cancel
You can cancel anytime, for any reason, without calling or talking to anyone:
- Online: open Manage billing (it's also linked at the top of every page), enter the email you used at checkout and the one-time code Stripe emails you, then choose to cancel your subscription.
- By email: write to support@wipedme.com from the address on your account and say you want to cancel, or use this pre-written cancellation email. No reason needed. We process email cancellations within one business day.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you've already paid for. Until then your plan stays active and we keep working. After that you won't be charged again, and we stop filing and re-checking.
An email cancellation counts from the moment you send it. If you email us before your renewal date and the renewal charge goes through before we've processed your request, we refund that charge in full.
We confirm every cancellation by email. If you don't get a confirmation within one business day, write to support@wipedme.com.
Refunds
Your first payment is refundable in full if you ask within 14 days of it, by emailing support@wipedme.com. That applies to monthly and yearly plans of any size, once per customer. Taking that refund ends your subscription right away.
Other charges, including renewals, are generally not refundable, and we don't refund unused time after you cancel, except as our Refund Policy describes (for example, a charge made after you asked to cancel, a duplicate charge, or a billing error) or where the law requires a refund. Refunds go back to your original payment method.
Switching plans
You can switch between Solo, Duo, and Household, or between monthly and yearly billing, in Manage billing. Before you confirm, Stripe shows you the new price and any adjustment for the time left in your current period. Credit for unused time on your old plan is applied to your future charges, not paid out as cash. Your new plan renews automatically at its own price until you cancel.
If a payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry it over the following days and email you a link to update your card. While a payment is outstanding, we may pause new filings. If it's still unpaid after the retries, your subscription may end. We don't charge late fees.
Questions about a charge
If a charge looks wrong, email support@wipedme.com (or billing@wipedme.com for invoice copies) and we'll look at it quickly. Most billing questions are settled in one reply, which is usually faster than a card dispute. Nothing in these Terms limits your right to dispute a charge with your card issuer.
Using WipedMe the right way
You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy and FCRA Disclaimer. In short:
- Use WipedMe only for yourself and the adults on your plan who have signed their own authorization.
- Give us only true information about the people you're covering.
- Don't use WipedMe, or anything we send you, to locate, track, harass, or harm anyone, or for any purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Don't try to break into, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer our systems, and don't resell the service without a written agreement with us.
Your information
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who receives it (including the sites we file with and the service providers that run WipedMe), how long we keep it, and your rights. We never sell your personal information.
Electronic communications
You agree that we can give you notices, disclosures, receipts, and other communications by email to the address on your account or by posting them on wipedme.com, and that these satisfy any legal requirement that they be in writing. Keep your email address current in Manage billing. You can ask for a paper copy of any notice by emailing privacy@wipedme.com. You can also withdraw your consent to electronic records there, but since the service runs by email, we would then cancel your subscription.
We send service emails (confirmations, receipts, renewal and price-change notices, status updates, and security or policy notices) while you're a customer. We don't send marketing emails unless you've agreed to them, and every marketing email has a working unsubscribe link.
Our site and content
The WipedMe website, software, text, and design belong to CILE LLC, and the WipedMe name and logo are our trademarks. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them to receive the service.
Disclaimer of warranties
Apart from the promises we make expressly in these Terms, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any site will honor any request. Some states don't allow these disclaimers, so some of this may not apply to you.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) neither WipedMe nor its owners, employees, or contractors are liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of the service or these Terms; and (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the service or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
These limits don't apply to liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, and they never reduce a refund you're owed under our Refund Policy. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
If your misuse causes a claim against us
If someone brings a claim against WipedMe because you gave us information you knew was false, added someone to your plan without their permission, or used the service in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows. This doesn't apply to anything caused by our own conduct.
Resolving disputes: informally first, then individual arbitration
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to go to court and to a jury trial.
Talk to us first. Before starting arbitration or a small-claims case, send a written description of the dispute and what you want to support@wipedme.com (we'll send ours to the email on your account). We'll both try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days, and time limits for bringing the claim are paused during that period.
Arbitration. If we can't resolve it, you and WipedMe agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court. Either of us may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, available at adr.org. Hearings can take place by video or phone, or in person in the county where you live. Your share of the filing fees won't be more than the fee to file the claim in court, and we pay the remaining AAA fees as its rules require. The arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could, including attorney's fees where the law allows. You and WipedMe each give up the right to a jury trial for claims covered by this section.
No class actions. You and WipedMe each bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims.
Public injunctive relief. This section doesn't stop you from seeking public injunctive relief where the applicable law doesn't allow that right to be waived. Any such request will be decided by a court after any individual claims are arbitrated, and the court case will be paused until then.
You can opt out. Within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, email privacy@wipedme.com with the subject "Arbitration opt-out", your name, and the email on your account, saying you want to opt out of arbitration. Opting out doesn't affect anything else in these Terms or your service.
If part of this section is unenforceable. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim, and only that claim, goes to court instead of arbitration. If any other part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Future changes. A change to this section won't apply to a dispute either of us has already given notice of. You can reject a future change to this section by emailing privacy@wipedme.com within 30 days after it takes effect, and the version you last accepted will continue to apply to you.
Governing law and where cases go
These Terms are governed by the Federal Arbitration Act and the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. That choice doesn't take away any consumer protection that the law of your state gives you and doesn't allow to be waived. For any claim that isn't arbitrated, you and we agree to the jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wyoming, unless the law of your state gives you the right to bring the claim where you live.
Ending the service
You can end the service at any time by cancelling. We may suspend or end your service if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, if your use puts someone at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
If we end your service for a reason that isn't your breach, we refund the unused part of your current period. If we end it because you broke these Terms, refunds follow our Refund Policy. If we ever stop offering WipedMe altogether, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email and refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service or the law changes. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date. For a material change, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree. Changes never apply to charges already made. Price changes follow the notice rules under "Renewal reminders and price changes" above, and changes to the arbitration section follow the rules in that section.
General terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the documents listed under "Who we are" are the whole agreement between you and WipedMe about the service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, it's limited or removed only as much as needed, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
- Assignment. You can't transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them only to a successor that takes over WipedMe and agrees to honor them and our Privacy Policy.
- Events outside our control. We're not responsible for delays caused by events we can't reasonably control, such as an outage at a provider or at a site we file with.
- Survival. Terms that by their nature should continue after your service ends will, including refunds owed, disclaimers, limits on liability, dispute resolution, and governing law.
