Acceptable Use Policy

Effective October 7, 2026

WipedMe files privacy requests for the people it covers, and only for them. It is not a people-search, lookup, or investigation tool, and it never will be. This policy is part of our Terms of Service and explains what you may and may not do with WipedMe.

Who you can use WipedMe for

You can use WipedMe for yourself, and for the other adults on your plan who have agreed to be included, given their own details, and signed their own authorization through their own private link.

You can't use it for anyone else. That includes partners or former partners, relatives, employees, tenants, customers, or anyone who hasn't signed their own authorization. Our plans cover adults only.

What you may not do

  • Use WipedMe to identify, locate, track, watch, or contact any person.
  • Give us information about someone who hasn't authorized you, or invite someone to your plan without their knowledge.
  • Give us information you know is false, or pretend to be someone else, including when signing an authorization.
  • Use WipedMe to hide information from someone with a legal right to it, such as a court, a creditor, or a law enforcement agency.
  • Use anything WipedMe sends you (status updates, request records, or our list of sites) for any purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, such as credit, employment, housing, insurance, or licensing decisions. See our FCRA Disclaimer.
  • Use WipedMe to harass, threaten, defame, dox, or harm anyone.
  • Probe or test our systems for weaknesses without permission, get around security or sign-in steps, overload our systems, or use bots or scripts to interact with our site.
  • Copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or our records, or offer the service to others, without a written agreement with us.
  • Use WipedMe in any way that breaks the law.

How we prevent misuse

  • Nothing is filed for anyone without a signed authorization from that person, recorded with the time, the IP address, and the exact text they agreed to.
  • Each adult on a plan signs their own authorization through their own private link. The purchaser can't sign for them.
  • The typed signature on each authorization must match the legal name given for that person.
  • We review requests before they're filed, and we pause filing and ask questions when something looks wrong.
  • We never collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers.

What happens if this policy is broken

We may pause filing, suspend or end the service, and refuse future sign-ups. Where we can, we'll tell you first. If we end your service for a violation, refunds follow our Refund Policy and Terms.

If requests were filed without the real person's authorization, we may withdraw them where possible and tell the person affected. We report threats of violence, stalking, and other serious misuse to law enforcement where appropriate.

Report misuse

If you think someone used WipedMe to file requests about you without your permission, or is misusing WipedMe in any other way, email privacy@wipedme.com. We'll investigate, and we won't reveal who reported it without permission unless the law requires it.

Reporting a security issue

If you find a security vulnerability, please email privacy@wipedme.com with the details. Don't access other people's data, disrupt the service, or make the issue public before we've had a reasonable chance to fix it. We welcome good-faith reports.
